Common questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What documents should I provide?
Start with the New Client Tax Checklist and upload only the records that apply to your situation. Additional documents may be requested after the initial review.
How long does tax preparation take?
Timing depends on the complexity of the return and whether all necessary documents have been provided. An estimated completion time can be given after the records are reviewed.
Does a tax extension give me more time to pay?
No. An extension generally provides additional time to file, not additional time to pay. Estimated tax due should be paid by the original deadline to reduce possible penalties and interest.
What should I do if I receive an IRS or state tax notice?
Do not ignore it. Note the response deadline and securely upload a complete copy of every page. Do not send tax notices or confidential information through ordinary email, text message, WhatsApp, or website chat.
Can you tell me when my IRS refund will arrive?
Refund timing is controlled by the IRS. Use the official IRS refund tracker linked from Taxpayer Resources for the latest status. A tax preparer generally cannot accelerate IRS processing.
How do I send confidential documents?
Use the secure Dropbox upload link on this website. Do not send Social Security numbers, tax forms, identity documents, or banking information through ordinary email or messaging services.
How do I pay my invoice?
Use the secure “Pay Invoice” link in the website menu. That link is for invoices from AN Bookkeeping and Tax Services; federal and Texas tax payments must be made separately through the appropriate government website.
Is the initial consultation free?
A free 15-minute consultation is available to briefly discuss your needs, service options, and next steps. Detailed tax research, document review, or professional advice may require a paid engagement.
